On his Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/PhilippLahm), Philipp tells about his vacation and the beginning of a new season (the traditional opening is on July 2nd at Allianz Arena). It is nice to hear the he had a great time. I have to say that I am looking forward to the 2011-2012 season. There is a lot of promise…
Meanwhile, Franz Beckenbauer, a.k.a. Der Kaiser, has given an interview in which he talks about a new style of leadership (that of Lahm, that of Schweinsteiger). When speaking of the leadership, he points out that Lahm will never be like Lothar Matthäus. The question this raises: why should he be? It is one of those things that surprise me when people speak of Lahm. Why should he be like someone else? He is his own person. He is not leading the team of the 90’s. Why should he be like anyone from that era? Not to mention that things have changed. The football has moved on just like everything else.
Beckenbauer also points out that the team has to accept the way the things are run. With all due respect, duh! Again, they are playing football NOW. Not in the 90’s. Not in the 70’s. Now. There is a probability they have already adjusted to it.
FC Bayern München changes as the world around it does.
